AgVenture Yield Specialist (Sample)

Major Function

As a full-time employee with an AgVenture Independent Seed Company, your duty is to proactively build long-term, profitable relationships and sell to targeted customers within your AgVenture Independent Seed Company’s assigned territory.

Key Job Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Know and understand AgVenture’s Maximum Profit System™ (MPS) while focusing on identifying and satisfying customer needs and overall profitability.
  • Understand and implement marketing plan initiatives while driving key products and services in key target markets.
  • Develop new and profitable grower accounts to drive business growth.
  • Lead the sales effort for AgVenture products.
  • Perform direct selling activities, provide agronomy services to local growers, and implement the MPS market strategy.
  • Implement necessary skills to achieve sale performance objectives.
  • Understand customer needs and provide feedback to the organization on product performance, program effectiveness and competitive activity.

Areas of Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent in Agronomy, Business or Marketing preferred. Will consider other degrees or related field sales experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Selling methodologies and techniques.
    • Agronomy and crop production practices.
    • Marketing tools and techniques.
    • Competitive product/service offerings.
    • Local agricultural markets.
    • Value chain and crop production practices.
    • Environmental, regulatory, and stewardship requirements for the various technology products.
    • Company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated skills in:
    • Selling, negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, handling objections and coaching.
    • Using computer hardware software/intranet to generate reports, territory plans, inventory and data.
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Licensed and insurable to drive.

Internship (Sample)

Major Function

Learn the agricultural seed business through a ten-week, hands-on, collaborative internship experience with one of our Independent Seed Companies.

Key Job Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Independent Seed Company – Interns will learn about our Independent Seed Company/AgVenture, Inc. business model and go-to-market strategy.
  • Agronomic Training – Interns will learn and develop more agronomic awareness and knowledge from the AgVenture product team, including real-life experiences around the everyday tasks of an AgVenture Yield Specialist.
  • Sales/Leadership Training – Interns will gain sales and leadership training applicable to the sales process, including the development of your personal story and sales strategy to be used in grower conversations.
  • Marketing & Brand Awareness – Interns will assist in marketing and building brand awareness/perception for AgVenture and the local Independent Seed Company, allowing you to gain knowledge on building territories and creating a presence for our marketing goals.

Areas of Knowledge

  • This internship requires self-motivation, resourcefulness, self-reliance and the ability to organize and prioritize requests from multiple team members. The candidate will be expected to manage their time effectively, meet hard and soft deadlines, and is encouraged to bring creativity and ingenuity to the position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
